Police Chief Says Officers Voicing Political Views on Duty Cannot Remain in Force

Israel Police disclosed Thursday that Commissioner Dani Levy had warned officers that expressing political views while carrying out their duties was incompatible with continued service. He delivered the warning at Wednesday's election-preparations meeting with senior commanders, Central Elections Committee acting director-general Dean Livne, and IDF and Shin Bet representatives. Levy said police must remain professional and apolitical while protecting public order and election integrity. Livne praised the scale of cooperation with police as the agencies prepared for safe, orderly voting.
