Ben Gvir Pledges to Replace IDF’s “Purity of Arms” Value if Made Defense Minister

Itamar Ben Gvir said on October 15 that he intends to change the Israel Defense Forces’ ethical code, known as the Spirit of the IDF, if he becomes the next defense minister. He proposed replacing the value called “Purity of Arms” with “Justice of Arms.” He said the military’s first objective should be winning wars and defeating the enemies of Israel and the Jewish people. His public statement sets out the change he wants to make in that future role, rather than announcing an adopted revision to the code.
