Elections Official Warns Foreign Campaigns Seek to Undermine Trust in Israel’s Vote

Acting Central Elections Committee director-general Dean Livne warned Friday morning that foreign states were running campaigns aimed at weakening public trust in Israel’s election. He said an election-day influence operations room would coordinate with Meta, Microsoft and Google to remove campaigns that interfere with a properly conducted vote. Livne also stressed the need to protect legitimate expression while examining suspected interference. Describing security preparations that include police deployments and thousands of guards, he said there was no concrete indication of a security danger on election day.
