Thousands of Haredim Protest at Military Prison After Yeshiva Student's Arrest

Thousands of Gur Hasidim gathered outside Military Prison 10 near Beit Lid on Monday night to protest the arrest of Yisrael Reuven Fine, a Sfat Emet yeshiva student sentenced to 20 days after the army classified him as a draft evader. The Admor of Gur attended, while United Torah Judaism chairman Yitzhak Goldknopf urged the tightly packed crowd to step back and avoid disorder. Police said some protesters tried to breach the prison, and clashes broke out at the gates. Five protesters received medical treatment, four for dehydration and one after exposure to tear gas.
