Greenland, Denmark and US Expect to Sign Arctic Security Deal Next Week

Greenland, Denmark and the United States expect to sign an agreement next week during the UN General Assembly to strengthen security in the Arctic and North Atlantic. The agreement would then require the necessary parliamentary procedures before taking effect. Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said it recognizes Greenland’s interests, while Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said it recognizes the Danish Realm’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and Greenlanders’ right to self-determination.
