Alex Antic Elected South Australian Liberal Party President

Australian senator Alex Antic was elected president of the South Australian Liberal Party on Saturday morning, defeating state upper house leader Nicola Centofanti in a ballot of party delegates. The vote margin was not published. State director Alex Hyde said Antic would soon convene the state executive, while the presidency carries responsibility for campaign preparations, meeting agendas and a place on the party's federal executive. ABC reported that Antic's support among roughly 200 State Council delegates followed a five-year local-branch recruitment drive and that he had promised members a genuine say in party policy.
