Police Report About 20,000 Sukkot Visitors to Cave of the Patriarchs

Police reported late Monday that about 20,000 people had visited the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron during the preceding day of Sukkot. Commissioner Danny Levy visited the site during the day and received a briefing on arrangements for worshippers and other visitors. Police said the arrangements would continue over the coming days, when thousands more people were expected. Private-car access up to the cave was restricted to residents of Hebron’s Jewish community presenting identification, while other visitors were directed to designated parking areas.
