U.S. Opens New Iran Strike Wave to Punish IRGC Attacks in Jordan

U.S. Central Command said American forces opened a new airstrike wave against Iran at 6 p.m. Eastern time Saturday, under President Donald Trump's direction. CENTCOM said the strikes are intended to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that attacked American troops in Jordan. The announcement followed Iran's recent missile and drone attacks on U.S. positions in Jordan, including the July 17 attack that killed two American service members and left one missing. CENTCOM did not identify the new targets, weapons, damage or casualties.
