UN Watch Report Names Seven Hamas Operatives UNESCO Mourned as Journalists

UN Watch published a report Wednesday titled UNESCO's Misidentification of Terrorist Operatives as Journalists in Gaza, documenting seven Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad members whom the UN cultural agency mourned as slain journalists then failed to correct after the terror groups themselves acknowledged them as fighters. Cases named include Mohammed Abu Armana, listed by UNESCO as a Palestine Now reporter before Hamas video showed him as an armed platoon commander, and Anas al-Sharif, tied by Israeli evidence to a Hamas rocket cell. Executive Director Hillel Neuer wrote Director-General Khaled el-Anany that UNESCO has become a conduit for Hamas propaganda, demanding retractions, an independent commission of inquiry, disciplinary action against responsible officials and new verification safeguards.
