Israeli Embassy Rebuts Canada’s Settlement Criticism With Antisemitism Record

Israel’s Embassy in Ottawa answered Canada’s condemnation of Israeli policy in Judea and Samaria by turning Ottawa’s language back on the Canadian government and spotlighting antisemitic violence inside Canada. The response was issued Friday night in Israel. Canada’s own government said in June that more than two-thirds of the country’s religion-motivated hate crimes last year targeted Jewish Canadians, who comprise about 1% of the population. Prime Minister Mark Carney said antisemitism had reached levels not seen in Canada since the postwar period, citing shootings at Jewish schools, synagogue firebombings and attacks on community centers.
