Israel Lands Authority Fund Backs 200-Dunam Nature Park in Hatzor HaGlilit

The Open Spaces Preservation Fund at the Israel Lands Authority approved co-financing a NIS 2.5 million rehabilitation and environmental-tourism project in Wadi Karmei HaZeitim in Hatzor HaGlilit, initiated by the local council and the Kinneret Drainage and Streams Authority. The project covers about 200 dunams of state land, an ecological corridor between the town's veteran and planned neighborhoods and Biriya Forest. Planned works include walking paths, lookout points, an outdoor classroom and natural play facilities, alongside waste clearance, restoration of ancient agricultural terraces and vegetation rehabilitation. Yehuda Eliahu, the authority's acting director and the fund's chairman, said the project strengthens northern communities; the drainage authority's CEO, Tzvika Slutsky, called regulating veteran open spaces supremely important.
