Colombia and U.S. Sign Civil Nuclear and Critical Minerals Agreements

Colombia and the United States signed cooperation frameworks on civil nuclear energy and critical-minerals supply chains in Barranquilla on September 8. Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula received U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio before Rubio met President Abelardo De La Espriella in private and expanded sessions at Batallón El Paraíso. Colombia’s government says the agreements are intended to support economic, energy and productive development, with projects spanning infrastructure, energy, housing, technology and post-earthquake reconstruction. De La Espriella said technical teams would continue work in Washington and that U.S. humanitarian assistance after the August 10 earthquake had reached $26.5 million.
