Israel Marks 50 Years Since Operation Jonathan at State Ceremony

Israel marked 50 years since Operation Jonathan at a state ceremony Sunday at the President's Residence, attended by President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. Herzog said the Entebbe rescue belongs to the entire nation and stands above political disputes, calling it a legacy of courage and daring that will endure for generations. He said the 1976 operation established an enduring principle: Israel has borders, but its responsibility to Jews and Israelis in danger has no limit. The ceremony honored commander Lt. Col. Yoni Netanyahu, the four hostages killed and those who carried out the long-range rescue.
