Avner Flor Set to Chair Israel Railways After Appointments Panel Approval

Israel’s government-companies appointments committee approved acting Israel Railways CEO Avner Flor to serve as a company director, clearing the way for Transport Minister Miri Regev to appoint him board chairman. Flor, a longtime Transportation Ministry official who is now the railway’s deputy director general and acting chief executive, would replace Moshe Shimoni, whose term ended in late June before he became Mekorot chairman. Israel Railways has operated without a permanent CEO for nearly a year, and an initial search ended without a candidate meeting the job’s requirements. A new chief-executive search remains underway while major rail projects face delays.
