U.S. 10-Year Treasury Yield Reaches 5.041%, Highest Since 2007

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.041% on Tuesday, its highest since July 2007, before easing toward 5%. The benchmark helps determine borrowing costs for consumer loans and corporate financing. The 30-year yield reached 5.401%, its highest since June 2007, while the two-year yield rose to 4.688%, its highest since July 2024. Markets priced a greater than 92% probability of a 25-basis-point Federal Reserve increase on Wednesday, as analysts cited sensitivity to inflation expectations and pressure from elevated oil prices.
