Karmiel Disconnects City Reservoirs After Tests Find Bacteria

Karmiel Municipality disconnected the city's water reservoirs after routine tests detected bacteria in drinking water, while further laboratory checks continue. The Water Authority, Ein Karmim water corporation and Mekorot began arranging direct supply, and the municipality said lab results generally take about 24 hours. Residents must still boil water used for drinking, cooking, food or medicine preparation and brushing teeth; bathing and sanitation do not require boiling, and household filters are not substitutes. The city continued supplying educational institutions, asked parents to send children with an extra bottle, and said bottled water was not required because local stores had no shortage.
