Court Extends Palestinian Journalist’s Detention in Alleged Iran-Links Case

An Israeli court extended the detention of a Palestinian journalist until September 23 while police investigate alleged incitement, support for a hostile organization, contacts with an enemy and trading with the enemy. Police said the woman, a Beitin resident in her 30s, works for a channel they suspect is linked to Iran and was arrested several days ago. The Committee to Protect Journalists identified her as Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed, a freelancer for 4D Media and correspondent for Iranian-affiliated Press TV. CPJ called for her release and said it asked Israeli authorities for evidence supporting the allegations.
