Health Ministry Issues Rabies Alert After Infected Dog Found in Hermesh

Israel’s Health Ministry said a dog in Hermesh was infected with rabies and that an epidemiological investigation is underway. Anyone who contacted the dog or another stray animal in the community between September 1 and 18 should urgently contact the Netanya Health Bureau or the nearest district health office for an assessment of preventive treatment. Outside office hours, the ministry directed potential contacts to a hospital emergency department. It also urged parents to ask children about animal contact and advised washing bites or scratches with running water and soap for about 10 minutes before disinfection and medical assessment.
