Erdoğan Calls for More Pressure on Israel Over Gaza at UN

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urged other countries to increase pressure on Israel during his address to the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday. He called for Gaza's reconstruction to begin without delay and asked states that have not recognized a Palestinian state to reconsider. Erdoğan accused Israel of responsibility for civilian suffering in Gaza, an allegation made in his speech rather than an independently established finding. Israel's military says its operations in Gaza target Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad threats following the October 7 attacks and continued attacks on Israelis during the war.
