IDF, Shin Bet Say Strike Killed Hamas Commander Involved in Holding Nine Hostages

The IDF and Shin Bet said Sunday that an airstrike in northern Gaza last Tuesday killed Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Gabayen, a commander in Hamas's military wing. The agencies said he had been involved during the war in holding nine Israeli hostages: Ziv Berman, Eitan Mor, Liri Albag, Agam Berger, Matan Angrest, Gali Berman, Omri Miran, Keith Siegel and Alon Ohel. They accused him of recently planning attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and rebuilding Hamas's capabilities in violation of the ceasefire. The joint statement said the strike was intended to remove the threat he posed.
