Pakistan Denies Role in Nuristan Clashes as Afghanistan Claims 28 Killed

Afghanistan's Defense Ministry said on Sunday that armed fighters crossed from Pakistan into Kamdesh district of Nuristan province on Saturday. It claimed Afghan forces killed 28 and captured 32, while others fled back across the border. The ministry alleged that Pakistani military and intelligence services trained or supported some of the fighters, including former Afghan soldiers. Pakistan's Information Ministry rejected those allegations, denied that its military or intelligence agencies had helped the group, and said Afghanistan had supplied no evidence. Neither account was independently verified.
