Gallant Says Israel Killed Hezbollah Operative Who Suspected Pager Plot

Previously censored remarks by former defense minister Yoav Gallant were cleared for publication on Monday evening. Gallant said Israel learned in the first week of August 2024 that a Hezbollah operative had begun to suspect the booby-trapped pagers. He said Israel killed the operative alongside another person to conceal why he was targeted. Gallant also said Israel later destroyed equipment that could inspect the pagers, before the devices were activated on September 17, 2024.
