A live grenade-launcher round was mistakenly fired toward a building containing nine soldiers during a 98th Division exercise at the Paratroopers Brigade training base near Shomriya, according to information disclosed Monday. The incident occurred about a week and a half earlier, while the soldiers were portraying an enemy force during training in a built-up area. No soldiers were injured, and division commander Brig. Gen. Meni Liberty ordered an investigation into the circumstances. Why live ammunition was used remained unclear. The IDF said the exercise was stopped immediately, there were no injuries, and the incident was under investigation.
