India Records Magnitude 4.9 Earthquake in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli

India’s National Center for Seismology recorded a magnitude 4.9 earthquake in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, at 22:23:13 Indian Standard Time on October 6. The reviewed event record gives a depth of 13 kilometres and an epicentre at latitude 30.103 north and longitude 79.561 east. The centre places the epicentre 282 kilometres northeast of New Delhi and 273 kilometres northeast of Noida. It also lists the location as 275 kilometres east-southeast of Chandigarh. The centre is part of India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences.
