Federal prosecutors in New York are expected to bring additional charges against former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, over the alleged torture of Americans held in Venezuelan government custody, according to people familiar with the investigation. An announcement could come as soon as Thursday, October 8. The allegations concern more than a dozen American citizens detained while Maduro was in power. Maduro's lawyer, Barry Pollack, said he had received no notice of additional charges. Maduro and Flores have pleaded not guilty to their existing charges and remain detained in New York.
