The IDF disclosed on October 8 that an airstrike in Gaza City on Monday killed Muhammad Mohsen Nimr Yazgi, a commander in Hamas’s Shati Battalion. According to the military, he was involved in holding Israeli hostages during the war, including Emily Damari, Romi Gonen and Matan Angrest. The IDF also said a separate airstrike in Sabra on Tuesday killed a member of Hamas’s Daraj Tuffah Battalion. It said both militants had recently advanced attacks against Israeli troops and civilians and worked to rebuild Hamas capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire.
