Sam Wood Denied Bail on Domestic-Violence Charges in Queensland

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an archival 2005 street view of Brisbane Law Courts, with leafy trees, a central utility pole, pedestrians and a teal pickup vehicle; Queensland legal-system context, not the Maroochydore hearing venue or a depiction of Sam Wood or the October 2026 hearing, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

An Australian court refused bail to fitness entrepreneur and former Bachelor participant Sam Wood on October 8, remanding him in custody until November 23. The 46-year-old appeared by video link at Maroochydore Magistrates Court in Queensland on charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting following an alleged incident in Noosa. Police prosecutors opposed his release. His lawyer contested the allegations and indicated a possible self-defence argument. The charges have not been proven, and the bail decision was not a finding of guilt.
