Saudi Civil Defense Says Houthi Missile Debris Damaged Riyadh Kindergarten and Clinics

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of two U.S. military ordnance technicians kneeling beside Iraqi Scud missile remains in an archival February 1991 Operation Desert Storm photograph from Saudi Arabia; missile-debris response context, not the October 2026 Riyadh incident, its damage, its response crews or identification of the interceptor used, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Civil Defense said debris from an intercepted ballistic missile damaged a kindergarten and a medical-clinic complex in Riyadh on October 8. The directorate attributed the missile launch to the Houthi militia and said the projectile had been intercepted and destroyed before debris fell. Civil Defense teams responded to the affected site and carried out established procedures, according to the official statement. The announcement described material damage to the civilian facilities but gave no casualty figures or names for the kindergarten and clinic complex.
