Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit apologized on Thursday after complaints about remarks he made during a High Court hearing concerning kosher phones used in the Haredi community. In his response to judicial complaints commissioner Judge Asher Kula, Amit acknowledged that his words had hurt parts of the Haredi public and said he had not intended to cause that hurt. He said that after reviewing the recording, the sensitivity of the subject meant the sentence would have been better worded and expressed differently. Amit expressed regret that the remarks had hurt complainants or others.
