The U.S. State Department renewed its warning on October 8 for Americans in the Middle East to exercise heightened vigilance amid a complex security environment. It warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions, and urged travelers to monitor airport and airline operations. The department said Iranian-supported Houthis had attacked civilian airports and other critical infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, causing civilian casualties, and warned that hostilities could escalate rapidly. It also said Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target U.S. interests or places associated with Americans worldwide, including businesses and institutions.
