Brazil Election Court Orders Suspension of Pro-Flávio Crypto Site

Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court justice Estela Aranha ordered the interim suspension of Brasil 22 Token on October 9 at the request of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s coalition. The project offered cryptocurrency rewards for online posts promoting presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro. The order requires promotional posts to be removed within three hours and platforms to preserve relevant records. Flávio’s campaign denied any relationship with the site or cryptocurrency sales and said it had pursued legal action to take the site down. The interim ruling will go before the court’s plenary, ahead of the October 25 presidential runoff.
