Christa Pike Returns to Prison After Hospital Discharge, Attorneys Say

Christa Pike was discharged from a local hospital and returned to Tennessee’s Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center, her attorneys announced Saturday. She continues receiving medical care in the prison where she has been housed for more than 30 years, and her lawyers said they would monitor her recovery. The transfer follows a failed execution attempt. In an October 8 update, her attorneys reported that she was walking with some assistance, her injured arms were healing, and she had begun a regular diet. They also reported concentration and memory difficulties, with physicians cautioning that assessing possible lasting cognitive injuries could take months.
