Talia Sommer Scores Hat-Trick as Israel Loses 7-3 to Switzerland in World Cup Playoff

Talia Sommer scored all three Israeli goals as Israel lost 7-3 to Switzerland on Friday in the first leg of the 2027 Women's World Cup qualifying playoffs in Mezőkövesd, Hungary. Sommer equalized in the 20th minute and put Israel 2-1 ahead with a direct free kick in the 35th. After Switzerland regained the lead, her third goal brought Israel level at 3-3. Riola Xhemaili then scored twice, and substitute Lia Kamber added goals in the 91st and 93rd minutes. The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday in Sion.
