Brazil Electoral Judge Restores Pro-Lula WhatsApp Channel Pending Full Court Review

Brazil's electoral inspector-general Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva provisionally restored the pro-Lula WhatsApp channel Exército do Lula on Sunday afternoon, October 11. The channel, administered by federal deputy André Janones, supports President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and has more than three million users. Cueva suspended an order issued earlier Sunday by electoral court president Kassio Nunes Marques that had blocked the channel. The restoration permits new posts and followers, but Janones must not reproduce content already judged unlawful by the court. The full electoral court must still review the dispute, and Flávio Bolsonaro's campaign must supplement its evidence.
