NSW Police Lay Eight Further Charges Over Newcastle Crowd Crash

NSW Police said on October 13 that an 18-year-old provisional driver had been served with eight further charges following an alleged crowd crash in Wallsend, near Newcastle. They include one count each of dangerous driving and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and six counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle. Police allege the vehicle struck people supporting a local sporting team at the Transfield Drive roundabout on Newcastle Link Road on October 3. Ten people were taken to John Hunter Hospital; the case returns to Newcastle Local Court on October 15.
