Egypt Confirms Drone Attack Hit Two Gas Ships at Damietta Port

Egypt’s government said investigators determined that a drone attack caused fires aboard two gas vessels at Damietta Port on July 29. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said technical teams found impact traces and drone remnants, while authorities are still analyzing the launch source and no party has formally claimed responsibility. He said the storage vessel remained intact, the regasification vessel was damaged, crews controlled the fire after a 12-to-14-hour response, and port traffic and national energy supplies continued without interruption. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi warned that the incident reflected dangerous regional escalation during a call with Spain’s prime minister.
