Iranian Officials Call Damietta Drone Strike a Warning

Two anonymous Iranian officials said Wednesday's explosion at Egypt's Damietta port resulted from a drone strike and was intended to signal Tehran's ability to disrupt shipping and global energy supplies if escalation continues. They did not say whether Iran launched the drone directly or whether a regional proxy carried out the attack. The blast at a liquefied-natural-gas facility set two gas-storage vessels on fire, including one American-owned vessel, according to maritime security reporting. Iran has not formally claimed responsibility, and Egyptian authorities had not publicly classified the incident as an attack.
