Saudi and Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss De-Escalation

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed regional developments and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in a Sunday phone call. Prince Faisal reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting regional security and stability in the shared interests of the region’s countries and peoples. He separately spoke with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. Those calls stressed diplomatic coordination, freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea, and limiting the wider consequences of the regional crisis.
