Cash Tips Count Toward Bartender Injury Benefits

A Beersheba Regional Labor Court ruling requires the National Insurance Institute to recalculate injury benefits for a Beersheba bartender hurt in a traffic accident on her way to work, after counting proven cash tips as income. Reports say NII recognized the accident as work-related but used payslips alone, leaving her with a roughly NIS 2,300 minimum payment. The court said tips not recorded on payslips can still count when the worker proves they were received. It set tips at NIS 250 per shift, added NIS 5,500 for 22 shifts in the prior quarter and ordered NII to pay NIS 4,000 in costs.
