Likud Committee Faces Sunday Vote on Netanyahu Slate-Control Plan

Зображення до: Likud Committee Faces Sunday Vote on Netanyahu Slate-Control Plan

Likud's Constitution Committee is set to decide Sunday on the rules for the party's 26th-Knesset slate after a Saturday-night update described competing plans that would sharply narrow member voting. Reports said Netanyahu's camp is pushing either a primary with reserved slots for his picks or a hybrid system in which an arranging committee places sitting ministers and MKs while primaries remain mainly for districts and representation slots. Earlier reporting put the emerging package between eight and 11 reserved slots, with the August 4 primary still on the calendar. The fight tests Likud's internal democratic tradition as Israel's campaign turns on list control, service-policy dissent and right-wing bloc discipline.
