Iran Threatens Regional Launch Points After U.S. Strikes

Iran's Foreign Ministry threatened early Monday to strike any regional launch point used for attacks on the Islamic Republic after renewed U.S. strikes on Iranian targets. The ministry said the Muscat talks had focused on managing the Strait of Hormuz and shipping routes, but alleged that overt and covert American pressure on Oman prevented results. Spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei characterized Iranian strikes on U.S. military bases in Gulf states as self-defense and urged host governments to prevent their territory from being used against Iran. The warning came minutes after Washington announced another strike wave aimed at protecting commercial shipping.
