Gotliv Calls to Fire Zamir as Shkalim Says He Cannot Continue

Likud MK Tally Gotliv called for IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir to be dismissed after his letter opposing a freeze on enforcement against Haredi draft absentees. Gotliv said the letter entered the political arena and that she would fire him without hesitation. In an interview, Likud MK Osher Shkalim said Zamir should raise concerns privately with the political leadership and should not set policy. Asked about dismissal, Shkalim said Zamir could not continue after attacking lawmakers, while adding that he greatly appreciates the chief of staff and was not necessarily demanding dismissal in this case.
