Colombia's Incoming Government Will Withdraw Its ICJ Intervention Against Israel

Colombia's incoming government said it will withdraw the country's intervention in South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice after taking office on August 7. The decision followed a Washington meeting between incoming foreign minister Omar Bula Escobar and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar. It is part of a roadmap to restore full diplomatic and economic relations, exchange ambassadors, remove mutual visa requirements and advance a Colombian embassy in Jerusalem. The outgoing administration had backed the case; the incoming government said Colombia would return to a serious and responsible international posture.
