Dror Shalom Says Israel's War Strategy Failed Despite Battlefield Gains

Brig. Gen. (res.) Dror Shalom, who until several months ago led the Defense Ministry's Political-Military Bureau, said Israel recorded substantial military achievements but failed to convert them into decisive strategic outcomes. In his first on-camera interview since leaving the post, he said Hamas remains standing, Hezbollah is far from disarmed and Iran's nuclear program was delayed but not eliminated. Shalom also warned that Israel's international standing and ties with the United States had weakened. He called on the next government to build an alternative to Hamas, pursue breakthroughs with Syria and Lebanon, and establish a state commission of inquiry into October 7.
