Erdan and Edelstein Launch the Unity Party

Former United Nations ambassador Gilad Erdan and former Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein launched their new right-wing list under the name Unity Party at an event in Beit Shemesh. Aliza Bloch, the former mayor of Beit Shemesh, formally joined the party during the launch. Erdan said the name reflects a need for political unity despite disagreements. He said the party would not join a narrow government and argued that Israel's rebuilding could not be managed with 61 votes, moving the slate from weeks of preparation into the active Knesset election campaign.
