Iranian Foreign Ministry Calls U.S. Sanctions Drive ‘Pure Parody’

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei called Washington’s policy toward Tehran “pure parody” after the United States suspended two Iran-related general licenses. He said Washington had turned to Bahrain, which he described as having virtually no meaningful economic exchange with Iran, to demonstrate support for its sanctions coalition. The U.S. Treasury says General Licenses F and G covered certain sports activities, academic exchanges and educational services, and were suspended effective August 24. OFAC also issued General License BB to permit wind-down transactions connected to the suspended authorizations.
