US DOJ Rejects ICC Jurisdiction Over Americans

The U.S. Justice Department told ICC President Tomoko Akane at 23:23 IDT that it rejects ICC jurisdiction over Americans. The DOJ release says Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche sent the letter, because Washington is not a Rome Statute party, and that the United States will not cooperate with ICC investigations, summonses or transfers. A White House order provides the Israel context, saying the ICC lacks jurisdiction over the U.S. and Israel. The stance matters for Israel because lawfare against democratic self-defense must be answered by sovereign courts, allied pressure and lawful battlefield accountability.
