President Donald Trump said the Iran attack he canceled Sunday would have been “by far the biggest attack since World War II,” adding that U.S. forces were ready to proceed. Speaking aboard Air Force One, he said Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar asked Washington to stand down because they preferred a deal, and he agreed to wait. Trump said negotiations would resume Monday afternoon and predicted an agreement addressing Iran’s nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz. Iran publicly disputed that a Hormuz deal already exists, while Israel remained directly affected by the regional military and diplomatic stakes.
