Rubio Says Iran-Oman Hormuz Talks Made Progress but No Deal Yet

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran-Oman talks have made progress on allowing more ships through the Strait of Hormuz, but no final agreement has been reached. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said an accord could come Tuesday or Wednesday and described the expected outcome as freedom of movement through the strategic waterway. Qatar said it and Pakistan are working with Oman to facilitate communication between Tehran and Washington. The diplomatic effort seeks to reopen a route that carried about one-fifth of globally traded oil and gas before the war and create space for direct U.S.-Iran negotiations.
