Boy George Withdraws From London Musical After Pro-Israel Song Backlash

Boy George will no longer appear as King Herod in the London Palladium production of Jesus Christ Superstar, his manager Paul Kemsley announced Thursday. Kemsley said he made the decision in the artist's best interests and with respect for the company, but did not specify a reason. The withdrawal follows criticism of 'We Will Dance Again,' an AI-generated song in which Boy George supports Israel, recalls Hamas's October 7 massacre at the Nova festival and rejects genocide accusations. Current King Herod performer Richard Armitage will cover Boy George's scheduled dates, according to the production report.
